WMHA Annual General Meeting 2025

The World Mental Healthcare Association (WMHA) hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025 on 26th August at Syona Experience Café, Kolkata, bringing together members and mental health professionals to discuss new initiatives, collaborative opportunities, and the future direction of the organization.
Purpose of the Meeting

The AGM was convened to strengthen WMHA’s mission of advancing global mental health awareness. The meeting provided a space to review progress, introduce upcoming platforms, and gather collective insights on how WMHA can create more meaningful engagement with professionals and the wider community.
Key Topics of Discussion
Launch of WMHA Online Content Platform
A major highlight of the meeting was the introduction of a digital publishing hub where psychologists and mental health professionals can publish articles at no cost. This initiative will enhance professional visibility while also creating an accessible resource for the public to learn about mental health from credible voices.
Proposal for WMHA Online Counselling Platform
Members discussed the creation of a structured tele-counselling service, designed to provide therapy sessions online in a regulated, ethical, and transparent manner. This platform aims to make professional mental health support more accessible and organized.
Syona Café as a Community Venue
The meeting explored how Syona Café can serve as a hub for community-based mental health and wellness activities. Proposed events included:
- Art, music, and movement therapy sessions
- Mindfulness circles and reading groups
- Film screenings and cultural evenings
- Networking opportunities for members
Member Collaborations and Future Planning
A detailed discussion was held on member-led collaborations, revenue-sharing models, and the quarterly activity calendar. Members emphasized the importance of inclusivity, sustainability, and innovative approaches to mental health advocacy.
Insights from the Chair
“When we talk about gender and mental health, men’s struggles are often silenced. Societal expectations push them into quiet suffering, and we must create safe spaces where they too can express vulnerability without judgment.”

Sharing his vision, Ritesh Choudhary, Founder of WMHA, reminded us:
“A nation’s true progress lies not only in its GDP but in the well-being of its people. Making mental health a core policy in India is not charity—it is smart governance that invests in human dignity, productivity, and peace of mind.”
A Collective Vision Forward:
The meeting concluded with an open forum where members shared perspectives, ideas, and suggestions for future initiatives. The sense of collaboration and shared purpose highlighted WMHA’s commitment to building a global movement for accessible and impactful mental health care.
With new platforms on the horizon and community-driven projects in planning, the AGM 2025 marked a pivotal step in WMHA’s journey — reinforcing its vision of empowering professionals, creating awareness, and fostering sustainable mental health advocacy worldwide.
